28% GST on e-gaming, casinos is here to stay
Ruling out any change in the proposed 28% GST on online gaming and casinos, government sources said it is prudent to stick to levying tax on the gross value as any other method comes with complications in businesses that lack transparency. The gaming industry has been seeking a review of last month's GST Council decision, arguing that the levy is too steep and will hurt business.

Brij Bhushan out of WFI poll fray but son-in-law in
Brij Bhushan’s grip over Indian wrestling may finally be history, if the final list of electoral college is anything to go by. TOI is in possession of the voters’ list prepared by the returning officer. Neither Brij nor his younger son Karan – who heads UP wrestling association – are in the list. Both were to represent the state body in the polls, but now Prem Kumar Mishra and Sanjay Singh will vote. Sources said that the former WFI chief and his son withdrew names.

In boost ahead of 2024, TMC wins big in Bengal rural polls
Bengal’s violence-marred rural vote gave Trinamool Congress a massive, morale-boosting mandate on Wednesday, going into next year’s big Lok Sabha battle — all 20 zilla parishads, 317 of the 341 panchayat samitis, and 2,644 of the 3,317 gram panchayats at stake.Second-placed BJP’s tally of six panchayat samitis and 220 gram panchayats accentuated TMC’s dominance in the three-tier elections, which appeared a foregone conclusion as results and trends emerged on the first day of counting.
