Proper medical treatment is prisoner’s right: Court

In a significant order, a special court on Friday observed that a prisoner’s right to obtain proper medical treatment is recognised as a right under the Constitution of India. The court directed Taloja jail superintendent to take an accused jailed in the scam involving Sahityaratna Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Development Corporation (SLASDC) to J J Hospital. He had fractured his left shoulder after a fall in the jail toilet.
